As every year, the traditional exchange of good wishes is an opportunity to reaffirm our affection and solidarity with the inhabitants of the village of Basa-Rapcha. Yadav, Pancha and Jase warmly send their good wishes to all the members of the association, both to those who have had the opportunity to spend time there and to the friends they don’t know, but who have been providing their support for 25 years.
The symposium was organised by the Collectif France Népal, in close collaboration with the Senate’s France-Nepal interparliamentary friendship group, chaired by Mr Raymond VALL, Senator for the Gers.
I’ve been walking in Nepal for 40 years. As an amateur photographer, I’ve been taking part in photographic art fairs for several years now. Through this exhibition, I’d like to share some of the most intense experiences I’ve had in meeting the landscapes and people of this country.
I’m one of the founding members of the ANUVAM association: “Au Népal, Un Village, une Amitié en Marche”, which for 25 years has been contributing to the development of the village of Rapcha, in the Everest region, in the fields of education, health and culture.
The leaders of the association had the opportunity to express their gratitude to ANUVAM last year in Kathmandu and were proud to proclaim that more than 800 young people from Basa-Rapcha over the last 20 years had obtained their secondary school leaving certificate in the village.
The ANUVAM association, which had been officially invited to attend this jubilee but was unable to make it due to dates and availability, was particularly keen to thank Jase Rai, chairman of the secondary school committee, and to mark its participation by distributing scholarships.
To coincide with the exhibition, a series of screenings will explore the history of Buddhism and how it is practised today in India, Nepal, Burma, Korea and Japan.

Since the 2015 earthquakes, the Espoir et Solidarité association has been supporting ANUVAM in its reconstruction projects in the village of Basa-Rapcha.
On Saturday 4 May at 8pm, it is organising a COUNTRY dance discovery evening at the Maison des Associations in Saint-Genès-Champanelle, in aid of a number of humanitarian associations including ANUVAM.
As planned at our AGM last May, three earthquake-proof houses financed by our association were completed this winter in the village of Basa-Rapcha, enabling new families to move into a safe and decent home.
This was made possible by the excellent coordination of our local project managers, Yadav and Jase, who organise the work sites, recruit the workforce and supply the tools and materials.
For our part, we also need to make sure that we have enough cash to finance the work in advance, particularly for the purchase of wood, to allow time for the wood to dry out.
22,000 visitors flocked to the show, and fortunately not all of them stopped by our stand!
But during these 3 days, 5 of us, 7 even, were busy full time presenting ANUVAM and its achievements and selling photos and Nepalese handicrafts.
Given the international nature of this Rendez-Vous, we had taken the necessary steps to set up a beautiful stand. It was an opportunity to present the association to a wide audience of frequent travellers, and to raise money for our reconstruction project.
High-quality photographs by Jean Claude Raimbault will be sold in aid of the ANUVAM association.
