In 2017-2018, ANUVAM and its technical partner CAPA (Construire et Agir Par l’Architecture) constructed six earthquake-resistant houses using local materials for extremely poor village families.

This has strengthened our credibility with the community of Basa-Rapcha village and its new local leaders.

During the construction of these six houses, Vincent Peña, the site manager, was able to apply the earthquake-resistant techniques developed by CAPA and teach them to the village’s masons and carpenters. This enabled them to acquire new skills and gain further experience.

CAPA is also finalising a methodology manual containing texts and diagrams illustrating these techniques.

By the end of winter 2018-2019, three more earthquake-resistant houses financed by ANUVAM will be built by Nepalese craftsmen using their new skills. This contribution to technical expertise in the construction sector is a significant contribution by our association to the local economy.
