We held our Annual General Meeting in Châtel-Montagne (03) on 17-18 May at the Panneau Blanc gîte. 17 people attended this friendly and productive weekend.

After unanimous votes on the activity and financial reports, we turned our attention to the highlights of the year.

Dil Bahadur Rai (Dilou for everyone) was able to come to France in January-February 2025 after his first visa application was refused in June 2024. After submitting a detailed application (thanks to all those who worked so hard!), the consulate finally gave a favourable response.

Dilu is from the village of Rapcha and lives in Kathmandu, where he runs a small trekking and sightseeing agency.

Dilu was able to visit various places in France. Some of the places Dilu visited: Chauvet cave, Hospices de Beaune, wine cellars in Burgundy, farm visits, skiing, climbing the Puy-de-Dôme, visit to Clermont-Ferrand, cutlery museum, knife making, etc.

During her stay, the host families also gave her the opportunity to study French, with the aim of passing the B1 exam.  This exam would enable him to teach French in Nepal, particularly during the monsoon season and/or in the event of a change of career when he is no longer trekking.

Dilu has a trekking agency licence, but his agency doesn’t work. He doesn’t have his own clientele. He works for French agencies that send him groups.

Anuvam is mobilising to relaunch solidarity treks around 3 itineraries:

  • Lake Dudh Kunda, at the foot of Numbur
  • Solo-Khumbu, on the old Everest route
  • Lake Gokyo and Gokyo Ri
  • A Nepalese team led by Yadav, Jase and Dilu will be responsible for organising the administrative logistics and running the trek.

For the coming year

our Nepalese friends are asking us to carry out several projects around the various schools.

  • Shree Basakhali secondary school: repair of the old building damaged by falling trees. It’s a big project, with a high price tag, and we’ve decided to contribute over 2 years.
  • Shree Chandrodaya Basic School (Thulodhunga): building desks and benches suitable for children that they can build themselves, using local materials (wood) and local craftsmen.
  • Shree Dipendra Aadarsa Basic School (= Rimku): providing small play equipment and supplies.
  • Shree Jana Kalyan Basic School (= Bodu): Laying flooring in 3 classrooms. We recommend quality materials, even if they are more expensive. They last longer. The Arts et Métiers students have also been asked to help. ANUVAM will take over if their fundraising is not sufficient. Once again this year, we will be contributing to the purchase of small supplies.

The projects planned for the past financial year were completed:

  • the installation of toilets for the Shree Chandrodaya school in Thulodhunga was carried out in accordance with quality recommendations. We received step-by-step photos that gave us an idea of the materials used and the work of the craftsmen. There has been enormous progress.
  • The refurbishment of the dispensary floor. The work is finished and well done.

After a period of reflection and discussion about the future of our association and the changing needs of the village, we have decided to :

  • to update our association’s presentation sheet
  • to rethink and modernise our means of communication by making greater and better use of social networks
  • to make it easier to become a member through our Hello Asso account and to change the amount from the 2026-2027 financial year.
